I went in knowing it was going to cost a lot, and they were hesitant to work on my vw power steering pump. Gave them my car they kept it for a couple days. By the time they were done im in shock because they put so much time and hard work in, and the cost was way under what i expected, And lower than every cost i was quoted! I have had to return my vehicle a couple of times after the oil has been change because after I returned home there was oil leaking on my garage floor. I had to return my vehicle to have the tires rotated after they told me they had been rotated. So I started marking my tires every time I took my three vehicles in to have the oil changed and the tires rotated and balanced. The fist of October I was waxing my truck wheels and noticed that one of my chrome wheels had a chip around the lug nut and I took it back to the Platte city location and showed the wheel to one of the managers. They admitted that it happen on the previous visit and they would get me a wheel to replace it. I waited about two or three weeks and contact Tim the manager and he said he was still trying to find me a good wheel because he knew how picky I was about my vehicles. I told him I was planning on selling my truck and he told me at that time, do not worry about the wheel if you are going to sell it. I told him the wheel did not come into Platte city location that way and what if I do not sell it. So I waited until the week of Thanksgiving and stop in and still nothing on a wheel. another manager Ken, looked at it and said the same thing but he told me it was normal wear and tear. and he said the same thing if you are going to sell it then do not worry about the wheel.On December 1, 2017 Ken the manager contacted me and told me that he had ordered me a new wheel and I told him to contact me when it arrives and bring my truck up to have it put on . he contacted me on December 6, 2017 and told me the wheel had arrive, so I dropped my truck off to have the new wheel put on. I pickup my truck in the dark and never really looked at the wheel until I took my truck to a automotive dealership for some warranty work and I asked them how much money my truck was worth if I traded it in on a new one. At that time they asked me if I had put a new wheel on and told them the story of what happen. they told me that the wheel did not match the other wheels . I took the truck back to the Platte City and showed both Ken and Tim the managers the wheel they put on did not match the other three wheel on my truck. I told about the automotive dealership showing me the difference and they told me if you are gong to traded it off do not worry about it. Then they both told me that they were not gong to do anything else. so I had them put my old rim back on so now I still have a rim on my truck that was damaged by the Platte City location. I asked Ken if he wanted my business and he told me he did not care. I also wanted the owner of this business, James Steve Sumner, telephone number or email address. Ken would not give me either one and told me he would have Steve contact me. I hope he does contact the owner, but if I was a betting man, I will never hear from the owner Steve Sumner. I hope Mr. Sumner reads this review and contacts me. I would never recommend the Platte city location. because of the way I was treated.
Im new in town and am making these guys my new mechanics! They always charge me less than the estimate the work will cost. And they are very communicative, and kindly explain my options, and patiently answer my questions. They seem very knowledgeable and eager to please me. I feel like i can trust Platte City Service Center to take great care of my car.
About 2 years ago I had a horrible experience. I wanted to give them a 2nd chance so I took my car in today. I was having issues with the car starting and they took me in last minute. Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. The mechanic came out and told me that there wasn’t any spark so he had a feeling it could be the key issue, he hooked it up to the machine and BINGO... that was the problem. My key broke prior to them looking at it and he put it back together temporary to at least get the car started. I went to get a new key made and that fixed the problem. Point of everything he kept coming out and telling what was going on. My mind was changed about them. From 2 years ago to now is a big change. I will go to this place from now on for my car problems.
A friend and I were having a girls day out in Weston, MO. I am from St. Louis. My car started acting up and was flashing the emergency check engine light. When I called Platte City Service Center at 3:30 on a Saturday and explained my situation, they were very understanding and accommodating. I brought it in, it was fixed before 5:00 and for a very reasonable price. These people could have price gauged me or completely turned me away, but were so helpful and kind. They are very much appreciated in my book!!
